This year 2024, the ArtFair Weekend (formerly Meet the Artists) will take place across the weekend of 10 and 11 August, at The Town Hall, Hornsea, HU18 1PA. HAS Members will soon have an opportunity to showcase and sell their artwork and craft at this two-day event in August.
We have 27 local Artists and Makers lined up for what should prove to be an exciting weekend. Food by Bemora Kitchen will be offering their delicious food and drink for sale on both days.
We are inviting the general public and fellow Artists and Makers from across the East Riding to come and meet our local Artists and Makers and share and exchange ideas, as well as the opportunity to buy affordable artwork directly from the makers”. Throughout the weekend some of the Artists and Makers will be giving demonstrations of how they paint/make their work, so you could find some valuable tips and advice.
We are hoping for a sunny weekend so we can all enjoy art, chat, food on the patio or maybe even a picnic in the Hall Garth Park”.

HORNSEA ANNUAL EXHIBITION 2021
The annual exhibition will be online again this year, 1-31 August, and is open only to members of Hornsea Art Society.
Each member can submit two entries. Work submitted must not have been shown at a previous HAS exhibition. Ideally, members are encouraged to produce new work for the exhibition, but if that’s not possible, work submitted for the HAS online challenges will be acceptable.
There will be a winner and two runners-up, selected by our judge, Glynn Macey.
The Singleton Rose Bowl will be awarded for most votes from the public. Voting is open to HAS members and non-members alike, but is LIMITED TO ONE VOTE PER PERSON. Send details (artist and title) of your favourite exhibit by email to Phil Hargreaves at hengate@aol.com. CLOSING DATE for voting is 31 AUGUST 2021.
The DEADLINE FOR SUBMISSION OF ENTRIES TO THE EXHIBITION is 23 July 2021, but please send your images at any time before that date if you can, to help spread the workload.

Submit your image as a jpeg file. I’d suggest no smaller than 200 KB and no larger than 5 MB with a resolution of 72 dpi. Try to submit as good a quality of image as possible. It’s probably better to use the high quality function on a camera but many people will find it easier to use their phones or ipads. TWO images for each entry may be submitted for 3D artwork
Try to SAVE your image with your name and title of artwork: Pam_Williams_Leven_Canal.jpeg for example. If you have trouble naming your image, be clear in your email to me about which title refers to which image.
Images should be cropped, if possible, with no background showing. Do not edit your image using software beyond basic resizing. It is advisable to set your 3D work against a plain background for clearer viewing.
Remember to take a photo of your work BEFORE you put it in a frame. Images of framed work under glass will probably not show the artwork accurately and may reflect a flash. It would be better to submit another artwork.
Information to be supplied with each image in your email is as follows:
- NAME OF ARTIST as you want it to appear online
- TITLE of artwork
- MEDIUM
- Dimensions of 2D artwork in cms (height x width), dimensions of 3D artwork in cms (height x width x depth)
- Price if for sale. If artwork is for sale and is framed, dimensions in cms (height x width) including the frame.
- Contact details if artwork is for sale, email OR telephone. If you want to sell your work and you do not want your details to appear online, use the email website@hornseaartsociety.co.uk (which directs emails to me) and I will pass on your details to any potential buyer. Buyers tend to be from the Hornsea area and delivery of artwork is often by hand, but if the buyer is not local, it’s worth considering postage and packaging costs. Sending your artwork by post can cause problems, e.g. if your work is framed and under glass, you might think to use perspex instead.
