I didn’t start painting until I was 60. It’s something I always wanted to try but could never found the time. However I was at Driffield Show (23 years ago now) and saw a lady painting the most beautiful watercolour of Autumn flowers and berries. After a chat with her she told me her art teacher was Jane Humphrey and was in the marquee if I would like to meet her. Jane told me she would be doing a ‘taster’ session, and just to go along because she would provide all the materials. I went to Jane’s class for several years. I am now painting in oils with Neil Helyard whose studio is in Beverley.
