HAS Exhibition 2018

Our venue will again this year be the Masonic Hall on Alexandra Road, Hornsea, just two minutes’ walk from the library and will be open to the public for 12 days from 10am to 5pm each day. All our publicity posters have a location map and postcode on them.

Information for the public

The Exhibition opens to the public on Tuesday 24 July at 10am and is then open from 10am to 5pm every day until 5pm on Saturday 5 August.  This is a selling exhibition and original artwork will be available to purchase at various prices.

Hornsea Art Society currently has over 80 members and all are eligible to enter. We usually have over 100 works of art in various mediums including watercolour, oils, acrylics, pastels, textiles and mixed media.  These are spread across 12 different categories including one which changes each year, this year the title of this category is ‘Towards the East.  We usually have a large number of entries in the sculpture category with sculptures in different mediums such as wood, steel, textiles, papier-mâché etc.

Trophies are awarded to the exhibit the judges think is the best in each category with an overall winner chosen from the 12 winners in each category.  There is also a ‘Young Artist’ competition with a number of works from each of the Hornsea schools on display.

All visitors can vote for the exhibit they feel is the best in the whole exhibition (excluding the young artists work), two stewards from the society will be there each day to help, chat and answer any questions you may have.
